An animation theme park is set to open at Hyundai IPark Mall in Seoul, South Korea in February, bringing to life villages from famous cartoons.

The 3,300 sq m park, dubbed Popcorn D-Square, will occupy the sixth floor of IPark Mall. It has been developed by real estate developer Hyundai Development Company in partnership with Daewon Media, which holds the licenses to Japan’s Studio Ghibli and manga series Doraemon and One Piece.

The park will include an exhibition hall, theatre, souvenir shops and cartoon-themed streets. It will offer a variety of experiences including exhibitions, screenings and live performances.

Hyundai Development Company said in a statement: “We will make the world of animation an imaginary world that everyone dreams about once, as a space to enjoy in reality.”

To celebrate the February 10 opening, the park will host an animation exhibition featuring prints, sculptures and digital content from Anne of Green Gables by Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery and A Dog of Flanders by Belgian author Ouida.
