Art Processors is an award-winning global experiential design and technology company that partners with cultural and tourism organisations to invent new realities in human experience.
We set a new standard for immersive storytelling with our specialist interactive media and exhibition design services, alongside a technology platform that makes it easy to deliver, benchmark, and continually improve visitor experiences.
Using multisensory storytelling, location awareness, the latest in extended reality, and digital technologies combined with actionable analytics, we enable institutions and attractions to be more creative, nimble, and accessible. From location-aware audio experiences to immersive environments, we bring our inexhaustible curiosity and a deep respect for the ability to leverage design and technology to connect people and inspire wonder.
We are just as comfortable creating personal, intimate moments as we are with grand, sweeping gestures. Our integrated team works together to design, mix, craft, and code experiences that are as beautiful, challenging, and emotionally resonant as they can be adventurous, lighthearted, and fun.
Our Story
Art Processors was founded in 2011 by David Walsh, Tony Holzner, Nic Whyte, and Scott Brewer with a deep desire to democratise the museum experience. We eliminated every barrier we could think of, from scholarly rhetoric on label-filled walls to assumed museum behaviours, and, in the process, we created a new kind of journey—one that marries people, place, and story in deeply intuitive ways.
Our invention of The O propelled the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Nipaluna Hobart—the largest privately funded museum in the Southern Hemisphere—to the forefront of global audience engagement. With more than 3.5 million visitors and an enduring 99.99% uptime for over a decade, MONA continues to push the boundaries of museum experiences.
Our Work
A decade on, we’re still inventing, dreaming up new storytelling experiences, and forging lasting partnerships with our clients who collectively attract over 20 million visitors annually. We work across art galleries, museums and cultural centres from MONA to The Getty, The Art Gallery of New South Wales to the Smithsonian, Nelson-Adkins, Buffalo AKG. And we’ve created award-winning immersive experiences and spectacles for clients like the Sydney Opera House, The National Trust of Australia, The National Song Archives, and many others.
Our work has been recognized with numerous awards including Fast Company’s highly-coveted Innovation by Design Awards, SEGD’s Global Design Awards, Muse Creative Awards, the AIDC Awards, AAM Muse Awards, Webby Awards, and awards recognizing our work culture including the AFR BOSS Best Places to Work Award.
