Arcade revenue is up by at least 40% at Bounce About Laser Tag since the New Jersey FEC added cashless payment technology from Intercard.

Danielle Mirabal had been running her 26 arcade games on quarters (25¢ coins) for two years, before she decided the time had to come to make her operation more efficient.

“We didn’t have a change machine and we were making change at the front desk,” says the retired schoolteacher, who left the classroom to run the family entertainment centre in the township of Toms River. “I had a million quarter jams and I was always fixing coin mechanisms.”

After adding an iTeller kiosk from Intercard, Mirabal promptly saw an increase in arcade revenue. “Because I was only able to do cash before,” she says, “we would lose business.” Now she takes both cash and credit cards.

Using cashless technology has also helped Bounce About Laser Tag improve its marketing and promotions. As well as offering special pricing for specific times, the arcade donates game cards to local schools for use in fundraisers.

Always somewhere there on the phone

Mirabal reflects on the customer service she has received from Intercard: “You know, like anything with technology, we’re going to have the hiccups,” she says. “I have always gotten someone on the phone at Intercard. And they stay on the phone until they solve the problem for me.”

The arcade manager singles out her Intercard sales rep, Todd DeMott, who lives in her area. “He’s come here to fix my games, and he doesn’t have to do that, and he continues to follow up with me,” she says. “He wants to make sure we do well here.”
