Dr Seuss WaterWorks planned for new Carnival cruise ship

News
Carniva Cruise Line Horizon Dr Seuss Waterworks Waterpark

Due to make its maiden voyage next spring, the cruise ship Carnival Horizon will feature a whimsical waterpark inspired by the tales of legendary children’s author Dr Seuss.

Located on deck 12 of this latest vessel from Carnival Cruise Lines, Dr Seuss WaterWorks will feature two watersides from Polin Waterparks.

The Cat in the Hat will be an enclosed Blackhole raft slide offering over 138m (450ft) of twists and turns. A red and white colour scheme will be formed from alternating translucent and opaque tube sections. Joining it will be Fun Things, an enclosed Aquatube body slide with polka dots and special lighting effects. The 88m-long slide, suitable for all ages, is named after the mischievous duo Thing 1 and Thing 2.

Dr Seuss WaterWorks will also include a 150-gallon tipping bucket resembling the cat’s hat. This will be complemented by a kids’ splash zone with dozens of water toys. Memorable phrases and larger than life Seuss characters will also be displayed around the facility.

Family-Friendly Cruise Line

Accommodating nearly 800,000 children a year, Carnival claims to be the industry’s family cruise leader. Although this will be the first Seuss themed waterpark in the world, it is not the first time Carnival Cruise Line has partnered with Dr Seuss Enterprises. Young passengers on board many of its ships can already enjoy Seuss at Sea dining and entertainment experiences.

“Our ships are designed as the ultimate seagoing playgrounds,” explains Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy. “Carnival Horizon will take this to the next level with the spectacular Dr Seuss WaterWorks. Dr Seuss is an iconic American brand and we’re delighted to expand our partnership with this incredible top-deck water attraction.”

Dr Seuss Enterprises president Susan Brandt adds that “Seuss is all about family fun and togetherness. We can’t wait to see our characters come to life in this colourful and exciting space.”
