News

Cartoon Network Amazone, Thailand has been honored with a prestigious World Waterpark Association Leading Edge Award 2014 and earned praise from Thailand’s tourism minister.

Opened to the public in October 2014, the first ever Cartoon Network-themed waterpark has been recognized by the WWA for industry innovation and leadership with ground breaking designs, themes, interactivity and attractions.

Liakat Dhanji, Chairman of Amazon Falls, the developer of Cartoon Network Amazone, accepted the award saying, "We are honored to receive the Leading Edge award for our efforts. Our dreams of building Thailand's first international theme park would not have been possible without the faith of Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific, who allowed us to build a permanent home for the beloved characters of Cartoon Network, and our brilliant team of designers who worked in collaboration with waterslide manufacturers Polin Waterparks.”

Ricky Ow, President of Turner Asia Pacific, added, “Turner Broadcasting is very proud that the world’s first Cartoon Network-themed waterpark has opened in Thailand and is already winning prestigious awards. My congratulations go to the Amazon Falls management team and everyone at Turner who has made this unique project come to life.”

Meanwhile, Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports Mrs. Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, praised Cartoon Network Amazone: “This is a great opportunity to regain trust for the tourism industry in Thailand. It also coincides with the strategic plan to promote Thai tourism in 2015, which will emphasize transparency, spreading revenue, lessening social inequalities, and inspiring a love for their homeland among younger generations. These strategies are designed to build a new image for Thailand to help it become a high quality tourist destination. Thank you Cartoon Network Amazone and associates for believing in the Kingdom and choosing to invest in the first themed waterpark in Thailand.”
