Zero Latency scoops two Brass Ring Awards for pioneering free-roam VR games

World-leader in location-based free-roam, VR entertainment, Zero Latency has teamed up with movie theatre chain, Cinépolis, to create Mexico’s first massive-scale, social, free-roam VR gaming arena.

The first arena of its kind to be integrated into a movie theatre facility, Cinépolis VR powered by Zero Latency opened earlier this month in the 21-screen Cinépolis Plaza Satélite multiplex in Mexico City.

“Through innovation, Zero Latency is redefining interactive entertainment in much the same way that Cinépolis has reshaped the movie watching experience for decades,” comments Zero Latency CEO, Tim Ruse.

“Watching movies or playing VR games at home simply does not compare to getting friends and family together for a blockbuster-scale experience in a luxurious movie theatre or warehouse-sized free-roam game arena. If you want a truly memorable VR adventure that is also a shared social experience with your friends, you can only find that by getting off the couch and heading to a Zero Latency-powered arena.”

Cinépolis visitors can enjoy a movie and VR experience all in one place

The cavernous 190 square metre (2,045 square foot) gameplay area will allow 8 simultaneous players to freely roam, walk, explore and fight together through wildly different virtual terrains. Players see each other as full-motion avatars with their names hovering above them and stay in constant communication.

Visitors to Cinépolis Plaza Satélite can select from three games. They can battle the brain-hungy undead in Zombie Survival, unlock the mysteries of an an enchanting and gravity-defying realm in Engineerium or immerse themselves in an action-packed deep space mystery, Singularity.

“Cinépolis has always been an innovator and we are constantly looking for new opportunities and modern technologies to deliver amazing entertainment for our customers,” confirms Gabriel Morales, Cinema Technology Director.

“Zero Latency’s one-of-a-kind free-roam technology delivers uniquely immersive virtual reality adventures that movie fans and gamers alike will love. Mexican movie fans will be able to see their favorite blockbusters and escape into an epic adventure at Cinépolis VR powered by Zero Latency, all in the same location.”
