Riders will be propelled back and forth above the water

MSC Cruises has unveiled Cliffhanger, a swing ride that allows guests to dangle out over the ocean at 50 metres above the water.

Created exclusively for the new MSC America cruise ship, the only over-water swing ride at sea will tower above the top deck in the Family Aventura district.

Cliffhanger’s four seats start off close to the deck before the ride’s arms lift them up and out over the edge of the ship. Riders are then propelled back and forth above the water.

“The one-of-a-kind, edge-of-your-seat thrill ride will have guests feeling the wind in their hair as their view oscillates between the water below and the sky above,” says a press release from MSC Cruises.

In addition to the Cliffhanger attraction, MSC World America includes seven districts, a water park, and an 11-deck dry slide.

In total, the cruise ship spans 22 decks, providing 2,614 staterooms and more than 420,000 square feet of public space. The new ship boasts 13 restaurants, 20 bars and lounges, six pools, 14 hot tubs, and three entertainment venues.

MSC Cruises is one of world’s largest cruise lines. Its fleet is made up of 22 modern ships, with three new vessels to launch in 2025, 2026 and 2027.

MSC World America to sail from 2025

MSC World America completed its float out ceremony at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France on 7 April.

The ship is now in its final phase of construction and was officially named yesterday (9 April) at MSC Cruises’ new PortMiami terminal.

Also, MSC Cruises has revealed the name of its new ship, MSC World Asia. Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman of MSC Cruises said the latest vessel “will offer even more advanced new features in terms of future-proof marine and onboard hospitality technologies as well as guest experiences“.

From April 2025, MSC World America will sail from Miami to various destinations in the Caribbean.
