Colliers’ Destination Consulting can now reveal their important role in the early stage development of one of the world’s most exciting new attraction developments.
The Colliers team, headed by Seán Young, has been advising the specialist design consultant HHCP+PJA on operations, market and feasibility of this spectacular new zoo resort attraction planned by the Qatari government in Doha.
The project was publically announced at the Tourism in Tomorrow’s World conference, on 24th February 2014 in Doha, Qatar by the lead client, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal).
The new zoo is planned to open in December 2017, replacing the existing Doha zoo. It will be a world-leading attraction and resort with three hotels, including luxury tree-house and rainforest hotels and a family resort hotel. The site is over 70 hectares, seven times larger than the current facility and will include a major safari experience, where visitors will be able to drive their own cars through various themed zones. The zones will represent different climatic environments and habitats ideal for gorillas, giraffes, lions, tigers, rhinos and elephants.
The zoo will also feature a number of unique, world class features including an elephant bridge spanning a major road, a controlled biosphere roof system which will rain once an hour, a river ride experience and a cable car connection to the neighboring Aspire Park and malls.
Colliers’ work has forecast admission and footfall numbers going forward to 2020 and beyond.
