Carousel Concept 1900

Concept 1900, a leading carousel manufacturer has expanded into two of the world’s biggest markets – China and Russia.

The company has been creating old-style carousels inspired by the wooden carousel horses of Gustave Bayol for 37 years. According to Concept 1900, the key to their success is preserving the clerical merry-go-round heritage, old French traditions and to realise them through the latest innovations.

To Concept 1900, every carousel is a work of art. “To keep its excellence in the manufacturing process, every workshop is united in its efforts to create a unique customised product” said Inna Aleksandrova-Legrain, Commercial Director, Concept 1900.

Each carousel begins at the concept development stage, with design review and calculation processes. The technical design and commercial team maximise the capability for each customised carousel.

Wood work on Carousel Concept 1900

The welding team brings the structure to life according to the design and regulations for the designated country.

The company works with TÜV, EN 13814, ISO 9001, CSEI, ASTM, GOST and other standards.

Meanwhile the electrical workshop installs LED lights to reduce the energy consumption and total cost of the ride.

Concept 1900’s carpentry team uses exotic wood floor thicker than industry standards to ensure long-term performance in all weather conditions.

In the polyester workshop, special moulds of the Gustave Bayol horses, reproduce fine details and make the horses look realistic. The company also creates bespoke moulds on demand for themed carousels and unique subjects.

To provide durability for intensive use, polyester panels and characters are coated in several layers: primer coat, polyurethane coating, decorative painting, and varnish.

Before assembly and packing, the carousel is brought to life by the painting workshop. “The painter’s contribution brings the carousel to life, and gives it a unique soul and personalisation” said Aleksandrova-Legrain. “The painters are great artists who put all their hearts in to create a true masterpiece”.

Following on from its success in China and Russia, Concept 1900 will be showcasing a duel carousel with two styles of attraction, Classical and Jules Verne, at the IAAPA Expo Europe in Paris from 16th – 19th September 2019. You can find them at booth #1612 in Hall 1.
