Disney have released a Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge map including an interactive version on the Disneyland Resort’s website and access through the Play Disney Parks App.

With Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge set to open to the public on May 31st at Disneyland and at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida on August 29th, Disney has revealed an interative map of the new themed lands.

The two Star Wars themed lands will take visitors deep into the Star wars universe. Not only does the land and its characters have its own backstory, the food and drink are also themed as is the merchandise on offer at the various retail outlets. Guests at Galaxy’s Edge will engage in a range of interactive experiences in a fully themed immersive land. Highlights will include a variety of starships from the Star !ars world and two major attractions.

These are Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run and Rise of the Resistance. The former opens May 31st and the latte later in the year.

Smuggler’s Run takes riders on a “thrilling, interactive smuggling mission”. It is a motion-simulator ride in which a group of up to six people will sit in the cockpit. From there they can fly the ship, fire its cannons and manage its controls.

“They really are in control of the ship,” says Scott Trowbridge, Star Wars portfolio creative executive / studio leader at Walt Disney Imagineering. “It’s a completely interactive experience.”

Rise of the Resistance will throw visitors into the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. They then find themselves inside a Star Destroyer, where they encounter the First Order’s dark enforce. It is, according to Trowbridge, “the most epic attraction Disney ever built“.

With all the hype surrounding Galaxy’s Edge opening, Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm are already planning the inevitable expansion.
