The Eden Project in Cornwall has topped a Snaptrip Bucket List survey as the number 1 UK destination that Brits would like to visit.

2000 Brits were asked to create their own ‘British Bucket List’. The world’s largest captive rainforest came top in the survey.

Stonehenge was the second most popular overall and the first most popular with people from Manchester. The ancient stones attract 900,000 visitors each year.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter made it to number 3 overall, but was number 1 on a quarter of bucket lists compiled by 16-24 year olds. Platform 9¾ was the second most popular choice in that demographic.

The tour of the Watford based studios opened in 2012 and gives fans of the series the chance to see film sets, props and costumes from the feature films. The attraction was expanded at the start of this year to include the Forbidden Forest.

Glastonbury made number 4 on the British Bucket List – the mega-campsite that hosts the biennial Glastonbury Festival.

Despite only opening to the public in 2013, The Shard also made the list in position 5. The 95-storey building is the tallest in the United Kingdom. It offers views of London from The View from The Shard observation deck.

Matt Fox, CEO of Snaptrip.com, said: “British tourism has traditionally been based around our first-class historical attractions, but as our arts, culture and entertainment industry grows more people are looking to explore different places, as the results of this research shows.

“Harry Potter has become one of Britain’s greatest exports, with adults and children alike wanting to explore the fictional and real-life places featured within his wizarding world. It’s also great to see educational family attractions like the Eden Project making the list.”
