Exhibits Development Group (EDG), a global leader in travelling exhibitions, has revealed details of six of its exhibitions which will be available to host venues during 2024.

The shows include Pompeii: The Immortal City which will be the first major exhibition to be presented at the new Arlington Museum of Art, Texas, which opens next year.

Partnerships with Italy

EDG has been fostering cultural partnerships in Italy since 2008, and four of the exhibitions available for next year build on these collaborations.

Pompeii: The Immortal City transports visitors to a first-century Roman town. This exhibition features authentic artworks and artefacts from Pompeii, including some of the most recent archaeological finds and scientific research. Artefacts are included in an extraordinary immersive installation where visitors can experience the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, as well as take on the role of archaeologist with the exhibition’s digital interactives.

The exhibition will be presented by the Arlington Museum of Art at its grand opening in the Arlington Entertainment District and will be on show from 30 March 2024. The exhibition will then be available from August 2024.

Colors of Rome: Mosaics & Sculptures is the first exhibition of Roman mosaics to be showcased outside of Rome, and is presented through a cultural partnership with Centrale Montemartini and Civita Mostre e Musei.

The exhibition includes a variety of Roman mosaics and statues which were found in homes, temples, necropolises, and public spaces. It offers a new perspective on Roman art by exploring its motifs, iconography, cultural significance, and artistic trends and techniques.

The exhibition is available for 3 to 4 museums on a limited 18-month tour from June 2024.

Giambattista Piranesi: The Dream of Classicism presents 90 works by Piranesi and shares his experiences in developing his craft and travelling throughout Italy. Piranesi is best known for his drawings of classical architecture, and the exhibition, which is available from January 2024, includes Views of Rome, Roman Antiquities, and the legendary Prisons of Invention.

SAMURAI: Sunrise, Sunset presents armour, weapons, and intimate personal artefacts from Japan’s military history from the Museo Stibbert of Florence Italy’s Japanese collection. This is renowned for being one of the significant Japanese collections outside of Japan. The exhibition includes around 100 objects connected to the Samurai warrior class, including 3 extraordinary helmets by Ryoei, one of the most renowned helmet-makers. Only 20 works by Ryoei have survived.

This exhibition is available from May 2024.

International culture

In Degas Dance Lesson, EDG presents a fascinating journey through Edgar Degasā€™ drawings. This exhibition explores the iconic artist’s skill in capturing movement using Renaissance mathematical techniques through 26 of his etchings.

The sketches, many of which feature ballerinas, illustrate Degas’ attention to detail and refined techniques, and reveal the steadfast dedication, countless hours of study, and unrelenting practiceĀ behindĀ each of his extraordinaryĀ paintings. Degas Dance Lesson is available from January 2024.

Meanwhile, there is limited availability remaining for Dressing the Abbey, one of EDG’s most successful costume exhibitions.

This exhibition includes original costumes from Downton Abbey. Fans of the Emmy and Golden Globe-honored drama will enjoy reliving favourite moments while delving into the history of the late Edwardian era into the 1920s through the fashions of the period.

This exhibition will be available between January 2024 and January 2025, subject to three consecutive hosts being secured.

Exhibits Development Group (EDG) recently revealed its partnership with the Conan Doyle Estate has been extended. This will enable Sherlock Holmes: The Exhibition to continue for an additional 10 years and to be exhibited in venues beyond the US.
