Günther H. Oettinger, EU Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, took a ride on Europa-Park’s revolutionary VR Coaster: “Alpenexpress VR-Ride”.
Oettinger, who is to speak at the 19th Tourism Summit of the Federal Association of the German Tourism Industry in Berlin this week, was enthusiastic about the new ride: “It is an international trailblazing innovation, made in Germany. Coming from Baden-Württemberg myself, I am particularly proud that a family company from this region is once again driving the top end of the market with completely novel inventions and attractions. I am sure that the virtual rollercoaster will become a phenomenon worldwide and can massively push Germany ahead as a leading innovation and a tourist attraction.”
The “Alpenexpress VR-Ride”, opened to the public at Europa-Park in September, is the result of a collaboration between VR Coaster, Mack Rides, MackMedia and Samsung.
The ground-breaking ride caused a stir at the Euro Attractions Show (EAS) in Gothenburg last week and is set to do the same at the IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando in November.
