Jiayuguan Fantawild Silk Road Dreamland has opened in the Chinese province of Gansu. The theme park will focus on Chinese culture, including Silk Road and the Great Wall.

The attraction uses advanced technology to explore the Silk Road, an ancient trade route. It is the first high-tech Silk Road-themed park in China.

Silk Road Dreamland boasts more than 200 landscape designs and 45 themed attractions, including ‘Legendary Dunhuang’ and ‘Silk Road Saga’, which lets visitors tour the trade route in one day.

Using live performance, ‘Lady Meng Jiang’ takes guests back in time to the story of Lady Meng Jiang, who brought down the Great Wall of China with her tears.

One visitor said the scene where the Great Wall collapses “is very shocking and it’s like standing under the Great Wall to witness the legendary story with real sound effects”.

‘Butterfly Lovers’ combines live performance with augmented reality (AR) and hologram projection technology, while ‘The Legend of Nüwa’ uses multiple screens for an immersive experience.

‘Marvels of Chinese Culture’ features a huge screen to present 5,000 years of Chinese history to visitors, of which there were nearly 10,000 on opening day.

Following the opening, Jiayuguan Fantawild Resort now has two theme parks with their own distinct features – Silk Road Dreamland and Fantawild Adventure.

Fantawild is also creating China’s first Boonie Bears Town and another new theme park based on Chinese culture – the Ningbo Zhonghua Traditional Culture Park.

Earlier this month, Changsha Fantawild Oriental Heritage opened as part of the operator’s ‘Beautiful China Trilogy’ project. The theme park features similar attractions to those at Silk Road Dreamland.
