Virtuix, the developer of the Omni virtual reality treadmill and VR Arena esports attraction, has been selected by Foundations Entertainment University as its exclusive virtual reality sponsor.

Now in its 17th year, Foundations provides a comprehensive educational seminar programme covering all aspects of building and operating a location-based entertainment business.

“We are extremely honoured to become part of Foundations University,” says Virtuix founder and CEO, Jan Goetgeluk. “Our selection for this exclusive programme follows the successful launch of VR Arena at IAAPA Attractions Expo. We look forward to sharing our insights and expertise in out-of-home esports and VR with the Foundations attendees.”

“When I saw the VR Arena at IAAPA in November, I was impressed by its small footprint, attractive visual design and its ability to stimulate repeat play,” says Frank ‘the Crank’ Seninsky, owner of Foundations University.

Repeat play and a large prize pool

VR Arena is a high-energy, 4-player attraction with four Omni motion platforms for walking and running inside virtual reality. Players are encouraged to play again with ongoing contests and an annual prize pool of $50,000. Each installation is supplied with an automated staging area for quick setup and minimal staffing costs. Social sharing stations allow players to share gameplay footage embedded with a venue’s logo.

Virtuix developed VR Arena together with Funovation, an industry leader in small-footprint attractions. Funovation is already Foundations University’s exclusive sponsor for laser mazes.

The two companies aim to start installations of VR Arena in the first quarter of 2019. Meanwhile more than 500 entertainment venues around the world operating Omni systems from Virtuix will by participating in the next Omniverse esports tournament, scheduled for January 24 to 27.

The next confirmed Foundations Entertainment University events include a one-day session on January 17 at EAG International Expo in London and a 1.5 day programme at Las Vegas’ Amusement Expo on March 24 and 25.
