Leading theme park ride systems specialist, Garmendale Engineering, has announced the appointment of Kelvin Ensor as its new General Manager.
According to Garmendale’s Sales Director, Zoe Shelmerdine, Ensor was the immediate choice when the vacancy arose.
“It was just a case of us convincing him to join us,” she says.
Ensor has a long association with the firm, as both supplier and client in the automotive and engineering industries.
“We’d been tracking his career for some time and could see a cultural and skills fit with what Kelvin had and what we felt we’d need as the business grew,” adds Shelmerdine.
“We’ve now delivered that growth, so the timing was just right and we have our man, so we’re all absolutely delighted.”
Kelvin’s has been tasked with overseeing and strengthening the business management, procedures and processes. He’ll also be tapping into his wealth of industry experience to bring depth and structure to the sales team.
The appointment will free up more time for Managing Director, David Shelmerdine, to concentrate on the in-house Design Engineering team and its ambitious new product development programme which began in 2015. The programme saw the recent installation of the first QuadStar Vroomster ride for Alton Towers in the UK and the first QuadTrack, tracked dark ride for Santa Park in Finland.
“I’m looking forward to being able to bring all my experience and skills into the role,” reports Ensor.
“I’ve worked for over 27 years in both sales and service and 20 of these have been in senior management. I love systemisation and creating business processes – I thrive on creating order.
“My new role at Garmendale looks like it is going to be great fun and will help really underpin the strength of the business and allow it to deliver the further growth it deserves.
“One thing is for certain, I’ll not get bored.”
