Gateway Ticketing Systems, a leading provider of admission control systems, has partnered with the new Malahat Sky Walk attraction to provide ticketing and admission control software.
Gateway will provide its Galaxy Ticketing and Admission Control software at the new attraction on Southern Vancouver Island.
A treetop walk with beautiful views
Set to open in the Spring of 2021, the skywalk will provide views over Southern Vancouver Island. The treetop journey takes place 2,133 feet (650 metres) in the air and leads visitors to a gently sloping spiral 131 feet above the forest floor.
As well as providing beautiful views, the Malahat Sky Walk will also immerse visitors in the local Malahat Nation culture. Within an adventurous venue that is accessible to all visitors, including those in a wheelchair, there will be interactive activities, a shop, café, children’s playground and a picnic area.
Gateway referred by another customer
Gateway was referred to Malahat Sky Walk by a recent Gateway customer in the region. The attraction chose Gateway after an online demonstration and an extensive decision process.
“We looked at a number of operating systems and we did not find another one that offered such a comprehensive suite of services that touched every facet of our business”, said Ken Bailey, General Manager of Malahat Sky Walk. “We are confident as we grow in the coming years Gateway Ticketing Systems will be there to support our growth.”
The attraction will use Gateway’s Galaxy software
The attraction will open with Galaxy Ticketing Point-of-Sale with membership, order entry and upsell modules. Tickets can be bought online through the Galaxy Web Store. The café and shop will use Galaxy’s Food & Beverage and Retail modules.
This unifies the attraction’s other profit centres with its ticketing POS. This increases revenue and gives a more comprehensive view of per-cap spending.
Using Galaxy Admission control, Malahat Sky Walk will be able to validate tickets and memberships quickly and securely. This system will also allow the attraction to monitor its real-time capacity through hand-held scanners.

The attraction also signed up for a yearly subscription to Galaxy’s learning courses. This will help its staff train more quickly on the software through interactive e-learning courses.
