Skyhawk, the western hemisphere’s first Sky Roller from Gerstlauer Amusement Rides has opened at Canada’s Wonderland.
The 41 metre tall attraction stands as the new gateway to the park’s Action Zone and allows guests to control their own ride experience.
Ride Entertainment’s Chief Business Development Officer, Adam Sandy, whose company represents Gerstlauer in the US, describes the Skyhawk as part of a new generation of interactive rides:
“Once the ride sequence starts, guests move the wings to affect the airflow around the ride. They can flip over 75 times or not at all – riders are completely in control.”
24 passengers at a time take their places in the individual seats before being taken high above the park. Once the ride starts, the vehicles swiftly unlock and the ride accelerates. The increased speed causes the wind to rush over the wings and guests can perform barrel rolls through the sky.
“This has been a great project for Gerstlauer. Canada’s Wonderland and Cedar Fair have been great partners and we are thrilled to have the first Sky Roller open in North America. In a park full of great thrill rides Skyhawk holds its own and really makes an impact, ” commented Siegfried Gerstlauer, Managing Director of Gerstlauer Amusement Rides.
The Sky Roller demonstrates Gerstlauer’s continuing commitment to creating flat rides that deliver an interactive experience. The company has also developed the Sky Fly attraction which also turns riders into pilots.
