Walt Disney Imagineering has shared an exclusive sneak peek of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride vehicles, an upcoming attraction at Disney World’s Epcot.

The new image of Cosmic Rewind’s ride vehicles was shared by Imagineering’s Walt Disney World site portfolio executive Zach Riddley.

“Here is an exclusive sneak peek of two of our ride engineers as they prep some of EPCOT’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind vehicles at our warehouse in Florida,” wrote Riddley.

“If you look closely at the colorful paint design on the vehicles (called coaches in roller coaster engineering parlance), each one is unique with different wear patterns and impact marks.”

“Imagineers were inspired by markings that appear on NASA Space Shuttles and other spacecraft upon reentry into Earth’s atmosphere,” he added.

“We can’t wait to share more on this truly out-of-this-world, awesome attraction as we make progress on construction and put these coaches on the track!”

Back in April, Disney filed permits for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Located at World Discovery, Cosmic Rewind will be the first ‘other-world’ showcase pavilion at Epcot.

The adventure will begin in the ‘Galaxarium’, a planetarium exhibition, where guests will explore the formation of the Earth’s galaxy and Xandar, a fictional planet from Marvel.

“Out-of-this-world, awesome attraction”

Cosmic Rewind will be a family-friendly ride with a groundbreaking ride system, vehicles that rotate 360 degrees and the first reverse launch on a Disney coaster.

Meanwhile, Walt Disney World is laying off more than 11,000 employees in Florida, as part of redundancy plans affecting around 28,000 workers due to the impact of COVID-19.

Disney has reopened parks in Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. However, Disneyland is still closed in California and Disneyland Paris is temporarily shut in France.
