A new experience called Halo: Outpost Discovery will allow fans to experience the Halo franchise in a brand new way.

The theme park is a partnership between Herschend Live and 343 Industries.

The weekend-long event features themed attractions, in-universe encounters and the latest releases over more than 300,000 square feet of activities.

The tour begins in summer 2019, and over the year it will go to Orlando, Philadelphia, Chicago, House and Anaheim.

There will be a laser tag arena as well as the latest simulation and VR technologies. Themed panels will allow fans to meet the creators and special guests. Guests will also be encouraged to cosplay at the events.

343 Industries Studio Head of Halo Transmedia Kiki Wolfkill said: “Halo is known for its epic adventures and galactic mysteries, and we have long viewed the Halo universe itself as a series’ central character. We are humbled by our fans’ continued embrace of what the Halo franchise represents: Heroism, Hope, Wonder and Community. We’re excited to partner with Herschend Live to bring our universe to life in a spectacular fashion to create a thrilling Halo fan experience worthy of the series – and take them, their friends and their families on a journey they’ll never forget.”

Herschend Live President Howard Smith said: “We’re extremely excited to further continue our commitment to creating innovative, immersive entertainment experiences that create memories worth repeating. For the first time ever, generations of Halo fans will be able to come together and experience the Halo universe like never before.”

eSports is a rapidly growing industry, set to challenge NFL with a predicted 300 million viewers by 2022. The huge potential for a spectator experience IRL is only just being explored.

According to BusinessInsider.com, Goldman Sachs valued the global eSports market at $500 million in 2016. The sector is predicted to grow at 22% annually over the next three years into a more than $1 billion opportunity. Industry statistics are already backing this valuation and demonstrate the potential for massive earnings from sponsorship and providing an immersive spectator experience.

Blooloop spoke with industry experts Professor Andy Miah and Brian Mirakian about the growth of eSports and also what this will mean for the visitor experience.
