Leading creator of immersive attractions, Holovis, is celebrating the opening of its Panem Aerial Tour at the brand new Lionsgate Zone at MOTIONGATE™ Dubai.
The Panem Aerial Tour is among the world’s first ever rides and attractions themed on the blockbuster movie franchise The Hunger Games.
The 3D hovercraft experience ‘flies’ guests over the districts en route to the Capitol. The experience is powered by a revolutionary new take on the immersive tunnel. Developed by experience designers, Holovis, it promises a deeper immersive experience, putting the rider ‘inside’ the narrative.
“Our new design takes the traditional immersive tunnel to a whole new level by enhancing multisensory experiences through unique and complex AV configuration,” observes Matt Dobbs, the company’s Middle East Business Development Manager.
Panem Aerial Tour puts guests at the heart of the story
“Guests will feel they are truly at the heart of the story as they fly over the different districts and try to escape the plot to capture them by the Capitol,” adds Dobbs.
The attraction features a dual set-up with two 30-seat motion systems. Two 6.2 metre x 24 metre screens curve on both axes to envelope the ride vehicle and audience sightlines. The company selected nine Digital Projection HighLite laser-based projectors to create the stunning 3D images. These are mounted on a bespoke-designed Holovis OptiRig system with a mechanical lift. The special rig makes for a straightforward installation and easy maintenance going forward despite the physically restricted space.
Holovis also developed PixControl, a proprietary auto alignment solution that automates alignment across the complex curved screen surface. This seamlessly integrates into the show control system to ensure operators can confirm pixel-perfect alignment every day without extensive software or hardware experience. Thus, every guest enjoys the perfect experience with optimum sightlines, regardless of seat position or height.
Audio immersion is created with a Holovis HiFiniti7:2 surround solution that delivers uncompressed spatial audio. Crossfades between multiple asynchronous audio tracks have also been programmed to give smooth transitions between scenes and triggers.
Multiple SFX systems and motion control technology, perfectly synchronised with the media, complete the leading-edge experience.
