Hygge Circles Ugakei

Hygge Circles Ugakei, a themed campground offering the ultimate glamping experience inspired by Studio Ghibli, is launching near Nagoya in Japan’s Uga Valley in 2021.

Hygge Circles Ugakei, which is currently in its planning and development stage, is designed by the Japanese division of Danish outdoor equipment company Nordisk.

The accommodation, which looks like a scene from Princess Mononoke or Harry Potter, will offer tents and cabins inspired by the likes of Studio Ghibli.

These include ‘Nordisk Tents’ and ‘Hygge Cabins’, while other attractions include the ‘Hygge Education Field’ and ‘Hygge Nature Field’.

The outdoor site features rows of dimly-lit cottages and bonfires amid rivers and trees, and looks like a version of the Forbidden Forest.

Nordisk’s project also incorporates environmental sustainability and hygge, a Danish term for cosiness, comfort and wellbeing.

The Hygge Circles Ugakei campground is located 50 minutes by train from Nagoya.

Disney previously joined the glamping trend with a competition to glamp in style in Pandora, while Alton Towers is offering visitors overnight glamping in Stargazing Pods.

Other areas include Springtime of Life Hill, which has attractions from Howl’s Moving Castle and Castle in the Sky, and Witch Valley, based on Kiki’s Delivery Service.

Ghibli’s Giant Warehouse, Dondoko Forest and Springtime of Life Hill are set to open in 2022. Princess Mononoke Village and Witch Valley will debut in 2023.

Studio Ghibli previously released the latest concept art for Ghibli Park, unveiling some of the themed areas, as well as a dining area inspired by Spirited Away.
