Hyperdeck VR experience heading to Hershey’s Chocolatetown

Hersheypark and MajorMega have announced the new immersive Hyperdeck multi-player virtual reality (VR) experience as part of the $150 million Hershey’s Chocolatetown expansion, debuting in summer 2020.

The announcement was made at IAAPA Expo 2019 in Orlando, where guests watched a live demonstration of Hyperdeck from MajorMega, a VR studio and LBE company.

Michael Bridgman, co-founder of MajorMega, said: “Growing up in Central Pennsylvania, our team has loved Hersheypark for years! We are beyond excited by the opportunity to partner with a leader in the amusement industry and debut the Hyperdeck at Hersheypark.”

MajorMega has created two Hyperdecks, each at 300 sq. ft, which will create a dynamic virtual world with a full-motion floor and multi-sensory effects, including wind, heat and movements.

The Hyperdeck VR game even continues outside, with onlookers able to help or challenge players using tablets provided.

“Throughout our 112-year-history, we have always focused on providing our guests of all ages with fun and innovative entertainment experiences,” said Vikki Hultquist, general manager of Hersheypark.

“We’re excited to debut Hyperdeck as a first-of-its-kind immersive VR game and the first on the Northeast as part of our transformational expansion of Hershey’s Chocolatetown.”

It will also boast the Candymonium hypercoaster, Hersheypark’s tallest, fastest and longest coaster – and its most immersive and themed coaster experience to date.

Hersheypark’s 15th coaster will have a milk chocolate coloured track and trains themed to Hershey candy. It will have a lift height of 210 feet, a maximum speed of 76 mph, a track length of 4,636 feet.

Recently, Hersheypark revealed more about the dining and retail offerings at Hershey’s Chocolatetown, which will include the Chocolatier, Milton’s Ice Cream Parlor, and the Sweeterie.
