The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) has broken ground on its new global headquarters in Orlando, Florida.

The occasion was marked with a special ceremony involving local IAAPA members, community partners, and the association’s team.

The new offices are located in what many see as the epicentre of the attractions industry.

Slated for completion by summer 2019, the 22,000-square-foot facility sits on seven acres of land and is surrounded by waterways. It will host committee meetings and industry gatherings throughout the year.

Designed by HHCP Architects, the building incorporates dedicated member space with meeting rooms, special event capabilities, and a lounge. There will also be a library dedicated to the association’s archives, along with many thematic elements and displays reflecting the diversity of members around the world.

Orlando headquarters in ‘the heart of the attractions industry’

“The headquarters is designed to be your place to engage with the IAAPA team and fellow industry colleagues for continued interaction between all of us,” says the association.

“IAAPA is proud to call Central Florida home. As we celebrate our 100th anniversary this year, we are excited to now have our global headquarters located in the heart of the attractions industry. Our relocation is the perfect step to continue to position IAAPA for an exciting future.”

The news comes as the association prepares for one of the industry’s biggest annual trade events in Asia. The 2018 Asian Attractions Expo takes place from June 5-8 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. Over 8000 professionals are expected to attend from over 50 countries around the world. The trade hall will be home to over 300 companies showcasing their latest products and services.

Founded in 1918, IAAPA represents more than 5,300 facility, supplier and individual members from more than 100 countries. Its members include professionals from amusement parks, family entertainment centres, museums, water parks, zoos, aquariums and industry manufacturers and suppliers.
