IAAPA, the global association for the attractions industry, is hosting its first-ever EMEA Trade Summit at Europa-Park in Germany.
IAAPA is pleased to announce that it will be hosting an EMEA Trade Summit at Europa-Park next year. Registration is now open for the event, which will take place from 2 – 4 February 2021 at the popular theme park in Rust, Germany.
This will be an opportunity for attractions industry professionals to network with their peers, gain insights on a variety of relevant topics and hear expert keynote speakers. There will also be an exhibition in Europa-Park’s Confertainment Center, highlighting new products and services for the industry.
A unique new event
“We are thrilled to launch this new, unique event which will include a trade show experience, education sessions and networking opportunities at one of Europe’s most popular attractions,” says Jakob Wahl, executive director and vice president, IAAPA EMEA.
“As the attractions industry focuses on moving forward, we understand the importance of providing opportunities that help professionals connect, become inspired, and build new partnerships to help further their businesses. IAAPA EMEA Trade Summit was developed to help industry professionals come together in person and meet those goals.”
The three-day event will be opened by Roland Mack, Europa-Park founder, who will talk about his experience of managing disruptions and navigating changes while at the helm of the 230-year-old family business. Attendees can also enjoy behind-the-scenes EDUTours at Rulantica water park and the newly reopened “Piraten in Batavia” attraction.
Expert insights
The closing keynote will be delivered by special guest speaker Doug Lansky who will discuss the idea of futureproofing attractions businesses. Lansky has lectured at over 100 universities as well as giving TEDx Talks and presenting at the National Geographic Headquarters for the United Nations World’s Tourism Organization. He has also spoken at events for Google Travel, Booking.com, Amadeus, ITB Berlin, and more.
By attending the wide range of educational sessions, participants can earn up to six credit hours towards IAAPA Certification.
“The health and safety of our Summit participants is our number one priority,” says Wahl. “As we prepare for the EMEA Trade Summit, we are working alongside the team at Europa-Park to ensure we produce a safe and successful event.
“We are following the latest guidance for large groups and meetings from Baden-Württemberg, the local German council, as well as the standards IAAPA developed for the attractions industry in its Reopening Guidance.”

Earlier this month, the association announced that IAAPA Expo 2020 in Orlando will not go ahead this year, due to COVID-19.
