Multimedia content provider and app specialist, Imagineear, has created a new self-guided tour experience at Anfield Stadium for Liverpool Football Club.

The experience aims to engage, immerse and entertain the thousands of Liverpool fans who make the pilgrimage to Anfield each year.

Imagineear and Liverpool FC have a long-standing relationship which began with the creation of an interactive multimedia guide for the club’s museum.

The concept for a new stadium tour was first proposed back in 2011. Its launch ties in with the completion of Anfield’s £10m refurbishment programme.

Imagineear provided creative and technical expertise on all elements of the visitor experience. This included physical route mapping, content design and production and implementation of an exciting multimedia experience. The multilingual guide accommodates English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Indonesian, Thai and Mandarin.

“The handheld guide includes a 360º experience, image recognition and bespoke interface design, with rich audio and video content from fans and players both old and new,” explains Iain George, Imagineear’s Project Director, UK & Ireland.

Narration by actor and LFC fan, David Morrisey

“The principal narrative is voiced by actor and LFC supporter David Morrissey. Visitors can immerse themselves behind the scenes at Anfield through Imagineear’s ‘Shirt-Cam’ technology, and experience what it is like on match-day as a player and a fan. There is something for everyone, with a few surprises along the way, too.”

Further to the software solution, Imagineear also provides and maintains 1,000 MPti™ devices for the Liverpool FC Stadium Tour. What’s more, the company manages regular content updates, data analytics reporting with more in development.

Tom Cassidy, Head of Tourism, Liverpool Football Club:

“Our partners at Imagineear have been a huge help for us both in terms of helping us devise the story but also in pushing the technology to do more and more.”

Imagineear boasts a growing client portfolio across the leisure, sport and cultural sectors including the Van Gogh Museum, the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Chinatown Heritage Centre, Singapore.
