Imagineear creates multimedia guide for Christo and Jeanne-Claude retrospective

Leading creator of digital content and apps, Imagineear has created a multimedia guide for a new Christo and Jeanne-Claude retrospective in Belgium.

The Christo and Jeanne-Claude Urban Projects exhibition at the ING Art Centre is the first of its kind to be staged since the 1980s.

Christo and Jeanne-Claude are known for their massive-scale environmental artworks. Examples include the wrapping of the Reichstag building in Berlin and the Pont-Neuf bridge in Paris. In 1983, they famously surrounded islands in Biscayne Bay with 6.5 million square feet of floating pink fabric.

According to Brussels-based bank, ING, Urban Projects is ‘a unique opportunity to gain a comprehensive insight into the creative process of this unclassifiable artist couple’.

Art historian Matthias Koddenberg wrote the script

The script for the Imagineear guide was written by art historian Matthias Koddenberg.

‘Koddenberg has been a close friend of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s for many years and wrote the exhibition catalogue,’ explains Eleonore Heijboer, a founder of Imagineear and its Creative Director.

‘The script for the guide is of exceptionally fine quality. It was presented to us in his native German and we translated it into English, Dutch and French before recording it in all these languages and editing and creating the tour’s design interface.

‘We worked in close collaboration with Matthias, the Christo team and the ING Belgium team throughout the project.’

The exhibition showcases around 80 original works, from schematic sketches to final drawings of urban art created by temporarily appropriating buildings, monuments or public places with deeply symbolic value. Large and complex collages also show the vision for projects before they were realised in situ.

Christo and Jeanne-Claude – Urban Projects runs until 25th February 2018.
