Leading creator of multimedia content and applications, Imagineear has provided cutting-edge hand-held visitor tours for Newmarket’s National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art.

To bring the world of horseracing and its associated art to life, the centre selected Imagineear to devise multimedia visitor guides for adults and children.

All five areas of the centre can be explored using the new guides. These include:

  • The National Horseracing Museum – here visitors can explore the history, science and globalisation of the sport
  • The flagship yard for the Retraining of Racehorses Charity – visitors are able to meet former racehorses
  • the Fred Packard Galleries of British Sporting Art – here visitors can view what is arguably the finest collection of British Sporting Art.

Imagineear's multimedia tours a galloping success at Newmarket’s National Heritage Centre for Horseracing

Imagineear provided the hand-held MPti™ devices and created the tours from script to post production. Engagement is boosted by a variety of interactive solutions. One encourages visitors to point their MPti™ camera at former racehorses to trigger video playback showing their moments of triumph.

The company’s multimedia production includes a Newmarket oral history project called Palace House Voices. Named after the original dwelling built by Charles II as his sporting palace in Newmarket, voices featured include those of stable lads who worked under trainer Jack Jarvis in the 1950s.

‘Included in the admission price, the multimedia tours are a fantastic addition to the visitors’ experience,’ comments Briony Jackson, the Centre’s Science, Learning and Participation Officer.

‘Imagineear were fantastic work with, and their creativity and experience made the development and production of the guide a thoroughly enjoyable experience.’

Opened by Her Majesty The Queen in 2016, the museum has recently been named a finalist for the prestigious Art Fund Museum of the Year 2017. The winner is scheduled to be announced at the British Museum in July.

Imagineear provides tailor-made content experiences and apps for a host of attractions including the British Museum, the Van Gogh Museum and London’s Tower Bridge.
