KONG: Skull Island Monster Delivery at Madam Tussauds New York and London

Monster deliveries have arrived at Madame Tussauds in both New York and London in preparation for new attraction KONG: Skull Island.

The scale of the containers reflects the ambition of the experience. Its centrepiece is an 18-foot high animatronic, interactive head of the beast himself.

The world-famous wax museum has partnered with Legendary Pictures to ensure that KONG is accurately represented.

According to Tussauds, the multi-sensory head has been designed to wow and terrify in equal measure.

It has been crafted from over 350 square feet of specialist faux hair and took a team of 33 artists 72 days to build. Each movement of the head employs state-of-the-art pneumatic controls, designed specifically for the gigantic ape. The system precisely controls the pressure and flow of air. This enables the recreation of lifelike facial movements, grunts, snorts and roars.

“Creating such a large and life-like animatronic figure is a first for the attraction and we cannot wait to share it with our visitors,” reported Edward Fuller, General Manager at Madame Tussauds London.

“The experience will transport guests who dare enter to the islands of the South Pacific and give them a chance to embark on their own mission of discovery. Alongside our first wax figure of Tom Hiddleston, as Captain James Conrad, they’ll be able to feel the roar of the king of the jungle.”

The experience centres on an adventure deep in the tropical jungle of the infamous Skull Island. Visitors will be challenged to evade the traps of giant spiders and uncover artefacts from the film.

As they journey through the secluded bamboo jungle, they will be joined by Captain James Conrad.

Finally, they come face to face with the enormous breathing, blinking, snarling and roaring Kong himself.

The launch of the attraction in March has been timed to coincide with the film release.
