Lagotronics Projects designs interactive ghost train for Wild- & Freizeitpark Klotten

News
Kundibert's Abenteuer Wild- & Freizeitpark Klotten

The German leisure and wildlife park Wild- & Freizeitpark Klotten is to add a dark ride for 2020. Designed by interactive attractions specialist Lagotronics Projects, the ride will offer a 21st century twist on the classic ghost train.

Named Kunibert’s Abenteuer (Adventure), it will be set inside a spooky castle at the park in the Eifel/Mosel region. The attraction’s storyline is based on the German legend of Kunibert, who is sent out by his mother, Frau Schute, to prove that he’s a brave knight, just like his ancestors. He may only come back to the castle when he has completed a mission full of dangerous assignments.

As riders travel through the building, they will see Kunibert’s ghost ancestors and friends, who have come together to organise a big ball in honour of his return. But guests don’t just sit back and watch!

Blacklight scenes by candlelight

Using interactive ‘matchsticks’, the passengers in the ride vehicles must co-operate to light up candles in seven different scenes. Each candle flickers for only a few seconds, so they have to be quick. In return for their efforts, they are rewarded with stunning blacklight scenes featuring funny ghosts and beautiful decor. The final scene is mesmerising, with all 64 ghosts dancing and celebrating at the ball.

The interactive dark ride will open in April 2020. It will join a line-up of attractions at Wild- und Freizeitpark Klotten that already includes a flume ride by ABC Engineering and a Gerstlauer Bobsled coaster, together with lots of smaller rides, slides and playground features.

Lagotronics Projects is providing the total attraction package for Kunibert’s Abenteuer. This includes everything from design, theming and storytelling to decoration and installation. The ride system will be manufactured by ART Engineering.

This year Lagotronics is celebrating 40 years in business. The Dutch firm is certainly no stranger to dark rides. As well as newer offerings like its interactive GameChanger platform, one of its very first theme park projects was the Mansion de la Llorona ride at Six Flags Mexico.
