Kaisa Group to Build 30b Yuan Theme Park in Shenzhen

News

Further intensifying competition in mainland China in the nascent amusement park business, Shenzhen-based property developer Kaisa Group has revealed plans to invest 30 billion yuan to create an international theme park in Golden Bay, eastern Shenzhen.

Vice chairman of Kaisa Group, Luo jun, said he was sure the park would meet with “strong consumer demand”.

“Golden Bay International Amusement park” will include:

  •  a theme park
  • Hotels
  • Waterpark
  • movie theatre and animation city and
  • a sports centre

covering a 1.5 sq km site in the eastern part of Shenzhen. The project is expected to complete in 2020.

The proposed development would be a huge endeavour, not dissimilar in size and scope to the recently opened Shanghai Disney resort. Analysts, however, remain sceptical, wondering if Kaisa can afford such a project, as The South China Morning Post reports.
