Hong Kong’s Ocean Park will be hosting the evening of 6 June at IAAPA’s Asia Expo 2012. Attendees will be treated to their nightly spectacular – Symbio – featuring an exciting array of dancing fountains, sound and light, pyrotechnics and surreal images projected onto the world’s only 360 degree water screen.
Utopia Entertainment contracted LCI Productions Ltd of London, UK designed, supplied and fitted the fountain, effects and control systems and created all the content for the show. Working with local contractors to build the infrastructure, the project was realised with minimal disruption to Ocean Park’s normal daily operation.

The show facility was designed not only to entertain visitors in the evening but to provide a pleasant background of water and dancing fountains during the day as well. Since its inauguration in January 2011 the park has seen overall attendance increase 30%, merchandise sales up 30% and food and beverage sales up 40%!
The philosophy is simple and sound; give the park visitors a reason to stay longer and they will spend more. In the case of Ocean Park, roughly 5000 visitors per night stay those extra few hours.
One of the prime design considerations for the park was the physical location of the nightly spectacular. As it is the final event of the day for the park-goer, it is important that the main exits be nearby allowing for a smooth egress as the park closes.
