Advanced Aquarium Technologies (AAT), the world’s leading specialist in public aquarium products, manufacturing and installation is sponsoring the European Union of Aquarium Curators (EUAC) Conference.Â
The event is hosted by Royal Burgers’ Zoo in Arnhem, Netherlands, 23 to 27 October.

The European Union of Aquarium Curators (EUAC) was formed in 1972. Its aim is to provide a meeting point for public aquarium curators and executives. This enables them to network, and share ideas and information about animal husbandry and aquarium development.
Burgers’ Ocean a world-class aquarium
This year’s conference is taking place at Royal Burgers’ Zoo in The Netherlands. Among its eight themed areas, the zoo boasts a world-class aquarium. One of the country’s biggest, the 45 hectare zoo welcomes around 1.5 million visitors a year. A highlight of the aquarium is the 750,000 litre coral reef exhibit. Another is the 3 million litre Burgers’ Ocean tank featuring sharks and tropical marine fish.
In sponsoring the event, Advanced Aquarium Technologies (AAT) is cementing its position as a key player and world leader in the creation of state-of-the-art public aquariums. The company’s AAT Acrylics division produces cast acrylic sheets for aquariums and zoos. It recently announced the production of a 120mm thick acrylic panel measuring 8.4 x 3.15 meters and weighing in at over 3,800 kilos.

Advanced Aquarium Technologies (AAT) also worked on the recently opened Cairns Aquarium in Queensland, Australia. The aquarium features 71 displays including 40 aquarium exhibit tanks supplied by AAT. It is also working on the Oman Aquarium. This is currently in development and whenit opens will be the biggest aquarium in the Middle East.
One session at the EUAC conference will be from Rob Hicks and Chris Brown of Merlin Entertainments‘ SeaLife – the world’s biggest aquarium brand. They will be looking at Cephalapods, (“If an octopus could talk”). Another is London Zoo’s Brian Zimmerman who will highlight some key freshwater conservation projects. With a presentation considering fire risk, Katy Duke, CEO of The Deep in Hull will ask, “Fires happen! How prepared are you?”.
