Mediamation Contributes MX4D® Technology to Christian Theatre Arts Programme

Leaders in the creation of 4D/5D effects environments, Mediamation (MMI), has contributed special effects technology to a Christian mission-oriented family theatre arts programme in Pennsylvania.

Theatre 7000, located in the restored 1920s “69th Street Movie Theatre” in Upper Darby, runs a state-of-the-art outreach programme which features what is claimed to be the world’s only top projector full dome (360 degree) screen in the world.

The technologically-advanced system superimposes live actors (in this case the children and their families taking part in the programme) into CGI-generated top and back-projected action on screen in a presentation entitled ‘I AM – the Encounter’. Mediamation contributed a range of special effects to the project including 24 MX4D® Motion EFX seats, snow, wind and strobe effects, and AV technology.

Content, featuring Jesus Christ as a Superhero in the imagination of a nine-year old boy, is created by non-profit production company Inner City (ICMovement).

Ben Myers, Director and Founder of Inner-City Movement and Theatre 7000, said the MX4D® seats were particularly popular with the children: “The kids are very vocal. They often tell their family and friends to come back and see the show again in the special seats  – the motion seats and EFX create a whole new experience.”

Plans are afoot for the MediaMation MX4D® seats to play a crucial role in a new presentation in October 2015.  The Gospel 5D “18-minute, virtual roller-coaster ride” will present Biblical stories from Genesis to Revelation, including the adventures of Noah, Abraham, King David, Isaiah, Jesus and The Disciples.  It will be shown free of charge as part of Theatre 7000’s community outreach.

MMI Vice President/CTO Dan Jamele said he was gratified that the company’s technology was being deployed in such a “positive, uplifting manner.”

“MediaMation is very proud to be associated with the innovative faith-based work of Theatre 7000, ” added MediaMation President/CEO Alison Jamele. “It is good to know our contributions are being used to further the mission of this important ministry.”
