Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway under construction at Disneyland

State-of-the-art attraction uses cutting-edge technology, projection mapping, and trackless vehicles.

Disneyland Resort president Ken Potrock has revealed that construction is underway on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, now set to open in California in 2023.

Ken Potrock posted a photo and timelapse video of the ride’s construction on Instagram, writing: “I am thrilled to share my ‘Happiest View on Earth’ with you today, a special peek outside a window at our Team Disney Anaheim building.

“This particular view offers a behind-the-magic look at a momentous milestone that happened today at Disneyland park – the first steel beam has been placed for what will be the future Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction, scheduled to open for guests in 2023!”

As above, the first steel beam has been placed for the ride, which was originally set to open in 2022. Potrock confirmed in the post that it is now set to debut in 2023.

Walt Disney Imagineering also shared a first look at the construction site, writing: “The first steel beam being installed for the future Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction at Disneyland, scheduled to open for guests in 2023!

“Disney Imagineers proudly joined Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock outside the construction zone this morning as the beam was lifted into place.”

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios takes place inside the Chinese Theatre. It will be located at the El CapiTOON Theater at Disneyland’s Toontown.

The ride, Disney’s first ride-through attraction featuring Mickey and Minnie Mouse, opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Walt Disney World in March.

The state-of-the-art attraction uses cutting-edge technology, Audio-Animatronics figures, animated media, projection mapping, and trackless vehicles.

In addition, Disney Parks Blog shared a new ‘Ride & Learn’ video taking viewers inside the Chinese Theatre and into Mickey and Minnie’s cartoon world, which you can watch above.

Last month, Disneyland treated Marvel fans to a sneak peek at the park’s latest themed land, Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure.
