Miral and Etihad Airways have signed an agreement to name Yas Island’s new entertainment venue Etihad Arena. The multi-purpose, indoor destination is the first of its kind in Abu Dhabi.

According to a press release, Etihad Airways and Miral are teaming up to further raise the profile of both Etihad Arena and Yas Island.

The two companies are also playing a key role in the economic diversification and development strategy of the United Arab Emirates.

Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, CEO of Miral, said Etihad Airways “is the ideal partner”, adding that the venue “will be a significant addition to the unique offerings on Yas Island and in Abu Dhabi”.

Etihad Arena can accommodate up to 18,000 guests

“This is a testament to our commitment to grow the tourism industry and achieve our leadership’s vision of economic diversification,” he said.

Etihad Arena, part of Yas Bay, will be operated by Flash Entertainment and will host various events, such as sporting competitions, corporate events, cultural performances, and concerts.

The arena, located on the southern end of Yas Island, has been designed for large-scale and private events, and can accommodate up to 18,000 people.

Yas Bay comprises Yas Bay Waterfront, the Residences at Yas Bay and twofour54. Etihad Arena is part of Yas Bay Waterfront, which will also boast the Hilton Abu Dhabi Yas Island, a beach club, and a pier with restaurants and retail.

The new partnership will contribute to making Etihad Arena a leading entertainment venue in the region, adding to the entertainment and tourism offering of Yas Island and Abu Dhabi.

“Etihad Arena complements our global presence at a number of sporting and entertainment venues, most notably Etihad Stadium in Manchester, home of Manchester City Football Club,” said Tony Douglas, group CEO of Etihad Aviation Group.

“This new arena will bring an abundance of talent to our capital, providing a diverse range of entertainment options for guests visiting our beautiful city, or for those who call the UAE home.”

Miral and DCT Abu Dhabi have also teamed up with Sportainment Entertainment and Sports (SES) and Feld Entertainment to host events and live shows on Yas Island.
