Morgan’s Wonderland is expanding and investing $3m in the construction of Morgan’s Wonderland Sports, an ultra-accessible complex for athletes with various abilities.
The three-acre facility will offer fitness and competition for athletes with different abilities. It will have 8,000 square feet of covered space for wheelchair sports.
This includes 12 courts for basketball, softball, baseball, football, soccer, and pickleball, and six courts for tennis.
Support facilities will include special LED lighting for visually-impaired athletes, water fountains, wheelchair-accessible toilets, and sports fencing for ball games.

Gordon Hartman, CEO and founder of Morgan’s Wonderland, said: “We’re all about bringing together those with and without special needs in safe, colourful, non-judgmental, barrier-free environments where the common denominator of play leads to acceptance and understanding.”
Morgan’s Wonderland Sports is located on land leased from the North East Independent School District (NEISD) on Thousand Oaks Drive across from Toyota Field.
“Development of Morgan’s Wonderland Sports has followed the successful pattern utilised for Morgan’s Wonderland, Morgan’s Inspiration Island and recently announced Morgan’s Wonderland Camp,” Hartman added.
“My 26-year-old daughter with special needs, Morgan, provided the inspiration, and a team of dedicated individuals who’ve worked closely with the special-needs community brainstormed what a completely accessible sports center would encompass.”

Morgan’s Wonderland is completely wheelchair-accessible and features more than 25 attractions, rides, playscapes and gardens.
Next door, Morgan’s Inspiration Island is the world’s first ultra-accessible splash park, specially designed for guests of all ages and abilities.

Morgan’s Wonderland Sports is scheduled to open in early 2020.
