Musée d’Art Classique de Mougins Launches Virtual Interactive Museum – MACM 4D

News

A museum of classical art in France, the Musée d’Art Classique de Mougins, has partnered with tech company, Navigator 4D, to recreate its entire museum and collection spanning 4000 years of history in virtual reality.

Positioned as the ‘museum of the 21st century’, the MACM 4D app allows visitors to explore the venue via two exploration modes, a guided tour and an independent walk-through.

According to the museum, “We bring the museum to you – and its mission to share its collection with the world can be fulfilled at any given time above and beyond the physical boundaries.”

With a strong commitment to outreach, the museum envisioned MACM 4D as an educational tool that allows teachers to bring the museum directly into the classroom. The software enables students to study the wide array of artworks including a selection in 3D that can be viewed in minute detail.

The ‘museum in your pocket’ will also make it possible to reach new audiences across the world and better serve the academics who currently study the collection.

MACM 4D launches on Thursday 20th October 2016 at 7pm in the Salle Georges Courteline, Mougins followed by a visit to the museum itself.

Available in five languages, MACM 4D will shortly be available from the Apple Store and Google Play.
