Myrtle Beach in South Carolina has added new tourist experiences for 2021, including a new surf park, amusement park and circus attraction.
Visit Myrtle Beach has announced that several new tourism developments are being introduced to the popular South Carolina destination for 2021. The Myrle Beach area covers 60 miles of sandy beaches and is already home to many entertainment and family entertainment offerings, as well as world-class golf.
The Visit Myrtle Beach organisation has created a Healthy Travel section on its website, featuring the latest updates and mandates to help visitors to travel responsibly in the midst of the pandemic.
“We recognize that a large number of Americans are eagerly looking forward to a vacation next year, and we’re thrilled to share these new tourism developments as another reason to safely plan for a trip to Myrtle Beach,” says Karen Riordan, president and CEO of Visit Myrtle Beach.
“Visitors will be able to enjoy the outdoors, world-class family attractions, a variety of great restaurants, and outstanding accommodations along the 60 miles of beautiful coastline Myrtle Beach offers.”
New attractions on offer
Among the new offerings will be American Surf Park, the state’s first man-made surf park, where visitors will be able to surf waves of 2 to 6 feet high. The surfing lagoon will be able to generate up to 1000 waves per hour, and the attraction will also have a 15,000 capacity amphitheatre. Construction will begin this year, with the official opening expected in 2022.
This summer, Broadway at the Beach and Dublin Worldwide Productions USA will bring Le Grand Cirque 2.0 to Myrtle Beach. During the shows, an international ensemble of performers will entertain audiences with acrobatics.
Meanwhile, families will also be able to enjoy the Funplex Amusement Park when it opens in the spring, which has rides for all ages, with fun for both young visitors and thrill-seekers. The tropical-themed park will feature seven rides, as well as a walk-up bar and restaurant. It will also be home to “Mach Fun”, the tallest, interactive 360° jet simulator ride on the market, and first-of-its-kind in North America.
Among other attractions, visitors will also be able to enjoy shows at the Alabama Theatre, get close to wildlife at Huntington Beach State Park Nature Center and attend the Carolina Country Music Festival. There are refreshments on offer at the Grand Strand Brewing Company and the Crooked Hammock Brewery, while guests can stay overnight at the Homewood Suites by Hilton or the Ocean Lakes Family Campground.
