James Cameron and National Geographic in association with Earthship Productions, Inc., present “JAMES CAMERON’S DEEPSEA CHALLENGE 3D”. The new 40 minute 3D/2D film for IMAX®, Giant Screen, and Digital Cinemas set to open in North America on January 16 2015.
“JAMES CAMERON’S DEEPSEA CHALLENGE 3D” follows the story of Cameron’s record breaking 35, 787 ft dive to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, the deepest place on Earth, in custom built sub DEEPSEA CHALLENGER.
Explaining the scale of the challenge, Cameron says, “You could put Mount Everest on the bottom and four Empire State Buildings on top of that and not even break the surface.”
This immersive giant screen experience in spectacular 3D captures Cameron’s exciting adventure together with scenes of bizarre marine life and volcanic seascapes.

“JAMES CAMERON’S DEEPSEA CHALLENGE 3D” was directed by John Bruno, Andrew Wight and Ray Quint and is a Wight Expedition Film in Association with Beyond Productions, executed in partnership with Rolex with support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The film was executive produced by James Cameron with Lisa Truitt acting as executive producer for National Geographic. The writers were Andrew Wight and John Garvin and Jules O'Loughlin, ACS and John Stokes, ACS, were the directors of photography.
