New story-driven haunt experience to feature scare actors, elaborate sets and unexpected thrills

Mall of America has teamed up with haunted attractions company American Monsters to create a world-class eerie experience for Halloween this year.

The retail and entertainment complex in Bloomington, Minnesota will be home to 45,000 square feet of immersive scares later this year.

“We are thrilled to partner with the leaders in the haunt themed entertainment industry to open a first-of-its-kind Halloween attraction,” said Chris Grap, Mall of America’s vice president of experiential.

“American Monsters will bring to life their creative and terrifying concepts, turning nightmares into reality.

“Opening an elevated haunt experience in addition to our exceptional seasonal festivities will make Mall of America the perfect destination for Halloween enthusiasts.”

The new Halloween haunt will be a story-driven experience featuring scare actors, elaborate sets and unexpected thrills.

It will also include media-based scare moments, theatrical lighting, special effects and an original soundtrack, as well as themed bars serving creepy cocktails and freaky foods.

“More than a great haunt, this is truly an exciting night out,” said Charlotte Huggins, CEO of American Monsters.

“After a shot of liquid courage, guests will step inside a world of creepy Louisiana bayous and graveyards, to come face-to-face with supernatural terror and a creature out for revenge.

“We are excited to bring our chilling story to guests at Mall of America, the Midwest epicenter of entertainment.”

Tickets will go on sale in early August. The Halloween experience runs from 15 September through 31 October.

Mall of America is the largest shopping and entertainment complex in North America. It is home to attractions including the Nickelodeon Universe theme park, a Sea Life aquarium, the FlyOver America ride, and the Crayola Experience.

Elsewhere, Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando are adding a new haunted house inspired by The Last of Us to this year’s Halloween Horror Nights.
