Nottingham Castle is set to undergo a £30m renovation to transform the site into a world-class visitor destination.
Nottingham Castle is now closed and set to reopen in 2020. It will have new build elements, sympathetic extensions, restoration and conservation work.
The headline development at the historical site will be new galleries dedicated to Robin Hood and his story of rebellion.
The development will benefit the local area. It will attract 400,000 visitors in the first year. It will increase spending in the local economy by over £90m over ten years.
The new castle will create both jobs and volunteer placements.
The development has been funded by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), D2N2, Nottingham Castle Trust and Nottingham City Council.
Nottingham City Council has appointed G F Tomlinson as the main contractor.

Thanks to money raised by National Lottery players, we have awarded over £14million towards the Castle’s redevelopment.
