Hong Kong’s Lai Sun Group has announced the official opening of Novotown, an integrated resort (IR) and entertainment hub on Hengqin Island in Zhuhai, China. Novotown combines state-of-the-art entertainment with world-class leisure experiences.
Speaking at the IR’s opening ceremony, Larry Leung, managing director of Novotown, said it looks to deliver “innovative entertainment and leisure experiences” and provide residents of Zhuhai and Macau with “a state-of-the-art entertainment destination unlike any other”.
“With world-class themed entertainment facilities, Novotown will not only offer more choices for a short getaway within the ‘one-hour lifestyle circle’, but also help to create a ‘one trip, multi-stop’ tourism model within the Greater Bay Area,” added Leung.
Novotown opens with retail and dining brands
The interactive destination boasts more than 50 key attractions based on Lionsgate’s film franchises, including The Hunger Games and the Twilight Saga.
Also at Novotown is the first National Geographic Ultimate Explorer centre in Southern China. The family-friendly educational attraction includes 13 breathtaking experiences, merging content from the National Geographic brand with immersive entertainment.
In addition, Novotown is home to various retail and dining brands, as well as the Hyatt Regency Hengqin hotel.
Lionsgate Entertainment World opened in July
To celebrate the opening, Novotown has launched the ‘Golden Town’ carnival, running until January 2020 with special offers and activities.
‘Golden Town’ will feature four golden interactive installations, including ‘Golden Station’, ‘Dream Station’, ‘Lucky Station’ and ‘Sparkle Station’ – a 7.2-metre LED digital Christmas tree.
Coming in phase two of Novotown is Real Madrid World, a Ducati-themed motorcycle experience centre, and ILA Hengqin with Harrow International.
