Leading designer and manufacturer of cutting-edge skylights and rooflights, OpenAire, has provided a custom patio to Drake’s new Pick 6ix restaurant and bar in Toronto.
Aubrey ‘Drake’ Graham is a Grammy-Award winning, platinum-selling artist with fashion stores in London, New York, Los Angeles and Toronto.
Pick 6ix is the latest offering from the Canadian hip-hop star’s burgeoning OVO lifestyle brand.
To optimise the dining experience, the venue commissioned a statement open-concept patio from OpenAire, featuring a 2,100-sq.ft. glass screen enclosure.
Motorised glass panels open at the touch of a button
Five motorised drop-down windows, measuring 12.5-ft. by 4-ft., slide down at the touch of a button to create a completely open patio environment.
The patio makes the most of the existing building’s overhang to provide shelter from the elements, allowing guests to enjoy the outdoor air whatever the weather.
On warm, sunny days, Pick 6ix patrons get a shady outdoor café experience. If the weather changes, the panels can be easily closed, retaining the outdoor feel.
OpenAire has been at the cutting-edge of high-end retractable roof structures and skylights for nearly three decades. Offering a complete service from concept to installation, the company transforms dark buildings into sunlit spaces and turns venues such as waterparks into all-weather, year-round attractions. One such project is the eagerly-awaited Epic Waters in Grand Prairie, Texas which is set to be the USA’s largest indoor waterpark under a single custom curved retractable roof.
With its headquarters in Oakville, Ontario, OpenAire has completed close to 1000 projects throughout North America, Europe and the Middle East. These include the Rooftop Bar at the Refinery Hotel in New York NY, which has twice achieved #1 ranking in the 10Best Readers’ Choice Award for Best Hotel Rooftop Bar.
Restaurants projects currently under construction include the Hyatt House rooftop lounge in Jersey City NJ; MOXY in Washington D.C. and Barcelona Tavern in Toronto.
