Painting with Light, a lighting and multimedia expert, has launched a new live Virtual Event Studio at its headquarters in Genk, Belgium.

Painting with Light is proud to announce its new Virtual Event Studio, now ready for staging dynamic virtual live events at its Genk headquarters. This is in partnership with NEP Belgium, a specialist in festival and sports broadcasting, and includes full streaming production and broadcast facilities with virtual audience interactivity

During the pandemic, businesses have been looking for reliable ways to host virtual events and Painting with Light is pleased to present a hybrid and mixed reality solution that meets these needs, both now and in the future.

The Virtual Event Studio can be used for a range of events such as conferences, meetings, debates, product launches, parties, live music and more.

The new studio features a high resolution 3 x 3-metre LED wall which can put the presenter in front of a virtual background. There is also a complete video floor below the presenter stage to add more visual dynamics. In addition to this, the studio also includes several small physical screens to allow presenters to review content and interact with the audience.

Users of the 10 x 19-metre recording area will benefit from professional audio and broadcast equipment, thanks to NEP Belgium. Painting with Light has provided cutting edge and adaptable lighting technologies with advanced production tools.

The project has included the creation of several pre-designed event stages and spaces, which are fully brandable, or users can customise a bespoke set-up. 3D assets and designs can be imported in order to integrate the client’s own environment and product design.

Expert control

The Virtual Event Studio also features a high-quality camera system as well as advanced audio mixers and speakers with microphones. These are sanitised after each user in order to prevent the spread of germs. Custom music and sounds can be produced for virtual events.

These events are controlled from a separate area, staffed by technical experts who monitor the shows in real-time. Here, graphics can be created and video content and live feeds can be sent remotely. This space is designed for safe working in a post-COVID-19 environment, with its own sanitising supplies.

Peter Van den Bosch, Business Development Manager of Painting with Light, says: “Audiences can be invited and join in via an assortment of different video conferencing platforms and virtually participate on-scene! They are gathered in front of the stage as live video thumbnails and shown on a large projection screen in the studio.

“This way the presenter can feel their presence and attendees can see the complete audience, just like at a physical event! The online audience can be streamed individually on to the virtual backscreen so the presenter can answer questions and engage in conversations.”

Reliable streaming

The output is an industry-standard video feed which can be streamed to a range of commonly-used platforms. For example, YouTube, Facebook, Twitch and Twitter as well as video conferencing tools such as Skype and Zoom. Clients can also have a custom landing page with advanced networking features in a virtual lobby room.

There has already been much interest in the project and events for IMEC Belgium, C-Mine Crib and Agoria Entertainment & Sports Technology Club have already taken place.

Jolyce Demely, Business Advisor at Agoria, says: “The RE-START event we staged here at the Virtual Event Studio is a great way to reach our community in a safe and fun way. Around 20 companies presented the latest on virtual and augmented reality in entertainment and sports technology, whilst enjoying interaction with the audience, which makes such a major impact.”

Marc Convents, Sales Director at NEP Belgium, says: “We’re delighted to join forces with Painting with Light for these new mixed reality events which will remain relevant as people travel less for meeting and congresses, working more from their home setting.

“Both NEP Belgium and Painting with Light work in complementary segments of the events industry and we are excited about the great opportunities this new Virtual Event Studio brings.”

Earlier this year Painting with Light also designed the lighting scheme for the grand opening of the Qatar esports WEGA Global Games competition in Doha.
