Panasonic camera systems provide solutions for esports broadcasting

Panasonic Business, a leading audiovisual technology provider, has worked with Best Broadcast Hire, supplying the company with camera systems for leading esports events, such as the FIFA eSuperliga in Copenhagen.

Panasonic Business is pleased to announce that it has supplied solutions for Best Broadcast Hire (BBH), the Swedish broadcast facilities company. BBH used these systems to broadcast some of the leading esports events across the globe, including FIFA eSuperliga, the BLAST Pro Series and most recently, the StarLadder MAJOR tournament in Berlin.

The FIFA eSuperliga is one of the world’s most popular esports events, which features 16 teams battling it out over eight weeks, to win a €49,00 prize pool. It recently took place in Copenhagen, where BBH used the Panasonic AK-UC4000 €UHD camera systems for a range of shots, including wide angles, live-action, close-ups and fan reactions.

Meeting the challenges of esports broadcasting

“The typical challenge for eSport broadcasting is the frequency integration required between the live and computer images but with the Panasonic equipment there is no latency and that means we don’t need any converters and that saves us a lot of time and money,” says Ulrik Samuelsen, CEO at BBH.

Key features of the technology provided by Panasonic are superior image quality with a flexible camera system. The single sensor and Low Skew Mode found in the AK-UC4000 camera prevented any potential issues with unwanted moiré screen patterns when using a large amount of LED screens. The system delivers simultaneous HDR output in UHD and HD with selectable 2x, 3x and 4x HD slow motion.

Panasonic Business is also currently supporting an exhibition at Japan House London called WOW: City Lights and Woodland Shade. This free digital display at Japan House London opened on 21 November 2019 and explores both modern and traditional Japan through the medium of digital art.

It runs until 22 March 2020, and Panasonic will be holding an exclusive evening at the venue on the 3rd March, complete with authentic Japanese food and drink. This is an opportunity for attendees to see the exhibition as well as some of the company’s latest products that are specifically suited to museums and galleries.
