Panasonic Business, a leading audiovisual technology provider, has provided its PTZ camera system to Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, allowing it to live stream Sunday Mass to over 5000 people.
Panasonic Business is pleased to announce that Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral has installed its PTZ camera system, in order to live stream Sunday Mass to a remote congregation of more than 5000 people. This has allowed the cathedral to reach worshippers while keeping to safe social distancing measures following the pandemic.
The live stream is powered by Panasonic’s AW-HN40 PTZ cameras with optical zoom capability. These have been installed by the company’s partner, Adlib, an AV solutions company that works closely with the cathedral.
Professional quality system
Adlib first installed a temporary solution following the UK COVID-19 lockdown, however following a successful pilot, the company recommended that Panasonic’s easy to use & high-quality technology should be introduced as a permanent solution.
The discreet cameras have a useful optical zoom function, meaning that viewers can see wide shots of the cathedral or close-ups of the Priest or readers, thanks to pre-set camera movements. A second camera shows wide-shots of the Choir, close-ups of the organ and shots of the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament.
Due to the system’s success, the cathedral plans to live stream more services, so it can reach more people despite coronavirus restrictions on mass gatherings.
A discreet and easy-to-use solution
“Initially, there was some concern that the cameras would be too conspicuous but a demo quickly showed that the cameras were very discreet and their availability in both white and black to suit different parts of the Cathedral made them blend in even better,” says Tim Robinson, Adlib Installation Project Manager.
“Ultimately, the Dean and his staff were so taken with the shots we could get from a central position, they asked that the camera be installed in an ideal location that we never would have thought possible. The Cathedral finds it an easy solution to work with and they have been getting an audience of more than 5,000 people per week for Sunday Mass.”
Katie Lucas, Cathedral Event Manager, says “Adlib has provided a fully bespoke streaming package that is user-friendly and effective. The whole team has been really professional and available to offer advice and solutions at short notice. It has been a pleasure working with Adlib and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their services.”
Earlier this year, Panasonic Business launched the PT-RZ990 Series, a new range of 1-Chip DLP laser projectors.
