The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) reveals more information about the Al Montazah Amusement and Water Park.

The Al Jazeera Park has been renovated to become the Al Montazah Amusement and Water Park. It’s the newest family entertainment destination for the Emirate of Sharjah.

Phase 2 of Al Montazah Water Park is set to reopen in January. Meanwhile Al Montazah Amusement Park is slated to open its doors to the public in the second half of 2018.

Both will contain a wide new range of rides and attractions. The capacity of the destination has been increased to allow 7,000 visitors at the water park and 10,000 visitors at the amusement park. “We will reopen Al Montazah in a brand new attire featuring attractions that will take visitor experiences to a whole new level,” said Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, COO of Shurooq. “We have worked committedly to bring new entertaining features to the water and theme parks since we opened the facility in 2014, and will continue to offer services that confirm to highest standards of quality.”

Al Montazah is expected to become a landmark attraction for the region and to play a high-profile role in promoting overall tourism in the UAE.

The new theme park, Island of Legends, is inspired by a time travel journey through nine countries. 26 attractions have been added, with rides constructed in Europe and North America. The adventure course has been expanded to accommodate a new element for children – a bouncing net that accommodates up to 100 young guests at a time.

One of the new attractions is a two-coach train that carries 40 guests across all nine countries of the Island of Legends.

Al Qaseer said Island of Legends will have two main F&B units, providing more than 1,500 guests per hour with a variety of food options. In addition four kiosks will serve snacks and sweets.

The park has a TUV certification (third party safety certification) showing it meets the world’s most stringent safety standards. It also includes an on-site medical clinic, as does the water park.

Both parks will feature a programme of shows, including evening and night shows on an open outdoor stage.

The attractions add a large dimension to Shurooq’s leisure portfolio. It is already responsible for a range of environmental and cultural projects which have gained wide recognition. These include Heart of Sharjah, the Mleiha Archaeological and Eco-tourism Project, Al Qasba (with its one kilometre-long manmade canal and 60-metre high Eye of the Emirates wheel) and the Al Majaz Waterfront.
