Pixar Pier will open on 23 June at Disney California Adventure, Disney Parks Chairman Bob Chapek announced at D23 Expo Japan.

Pixar Pier will feature four zones themed around three Pixar movies – ‘The Incredibles’, ‘Toy Story’ and ‘Inside Out’. The fourth section will “be a celebration of many of your favourite Pixar stories,” according Disney Parks blog.

The centrepiece of Pixar Pier will be the Incredicoaster, which Disney describes as “a super combination of character figures, lighting and special effects that will bring the Parr family racing alongside you in a high-speed adventure”.

The roller coaster has been adapted from the California Screamin’ ride, which closed in January 2018.

The new area will open during Pixar Fest, which starts on 13 April and will feature the debut of a new evening event – Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular. It will also include the return of the Paint the Night parade as well as Pixar Play Parade.

Chapek also revealed details about new Pixar attractions coming to Shanghai Disneyland and Walt Disney World in Florida.

Shanghai Disneyland

He confirmed that Toy Story Land will debut at Shanghai Disneyland on 26 April, featuring rides such as Slinky Dog Spin and Rex’s Racers. With the Rex’s Racers ride, guests zip forward and backward on a race car, going higher and higher, under the control of Rex.

A third attraction includes the horse character, Bullseye, and pulls guests around in a dance choreographed to western music.

Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World will launch Pixar-inspired experiences across multiple parks. At Magic Kingdom, guests can visit Tomorrowland to party with characters from ‘The Incredibles’, while a new show inspired by the film ‘Up’ will launch at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Toy Story Land is also set to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios this summer. When it opens, it will feature the Slinky Dog Dash family coaster, Alien Swirling Saucers and Toy Story Mania.

Disney previously shared plans for a ‘Ratatouille’ attraction at the France Pavillion in Epcot’s World Showcase. Patterned after the experience at Disneyland Paris, guests will shrink down to the size of Remy and join him in a race through Gusteau’s kitchen and restaurant.

At D23 Expo Japan, Chapek also revealed more details about other new attractions coming to Disney parks, including a Guardian’s of the Galaxy roller coaster at Epcot and an immersive hotel at the Star Wars – Galaxy’s Edge area in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
