The largest indoor waterpark in Russia’s Volga region, Ulyanovsk Indoor Waterpark, has been deluged with 5-star reviews since opening last summer.

Global creator of waterslides and waterparks, Polin Waterparks, provided a wide range of slides at the park, including a custom kids’ aquatic play area.

These have clearly proved a hit with guests who have been unanimous in their praise of the pirate-themed 12,000-square-metre facility.

Ulyanovsk Indoor Waterpark is understood to be the first phase of an ambitious family-friendly sports and leisure complex – Alexandrovsky Park.

First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the region, Aleksandra Smekalina, described the new attraction as ‘socially significant’ for both local residents and neighbouring regions. The park is expected to welcome 90,000 guests in its first year, as well as providing 100 jobs.

Visitors to the building are given a taste of what’s in store thanks to the huge structure of Polin’s Sphere waterslide. Once inside, pirate figures set the swashbuckling scene that includes cannon and cutlass decorations. The huge tentacles of an octopus add to the ocean ambience as they reach out over the pools and slides.

Towering waterslides soar above a series of pools for both adults and children – some filled with warm, whirpool jets and one with ocean-like waves. One pool offers an indoor/outdoor option so that, in winter, guests can bask in the warm water while it snows.

It is hoped that Ulyanovsk Indoor Waterpark will bring a much needed boost to the region’s economy.

“Many of the areas where we have worked to build new aquatic facilities had previously been in decline,” explained Selim Doguoglu, General Manager, of Polin Russia. “We’re pleased to see the new growth already developing around the waterpark. New housing is going up, and the people are looking positively toward the future. It’s wonderful to be a part of such exciting changes.”
